History

Team 703 was originally formed in 2001 at the Saginaw Career Complex with the name "The Wookie" and participated in FIRST for the next several years under a variety of different names. In 2005 the team (then named "Team Inferno"), joined forces with members from Heritage High School's Team "Robohawks" (which had to disband for financial reasons) to form "Team Phoenix". The new name was chosen to symbolize both the merging of the teams themes (the bird from the RoboHawks, and the fire from Inferno), as well as the the new team that was born from the "ashes" of the previous two.
The team celebrates their victory at WMR in 2007.
Since then Team Phoenix has continued to be an active participant in the FIRST Robotics Competition, winning 1st place at Kettering Universities off-season "Kettering Kickoff" competition in both 2005 & 2006, as well as taking home a Regional Champion Trophy at the 2007 West Michigan Regional.
